#NLPT2017 Dia/Day 3
É com alguns dias de atraso que vos trago o último post sobre a Visita de Estado do Rei Willem-Alexander e da Rainha Máxima da Holanda a Portugal. Mas tal como disse anteriormente: é meu dever fazê-lo!
It is a few days late that I bring you the last post on the State Visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to Portugal. But as I said earlier: it is my duty to do so!
O terceiro e última dia de visita começou a norte de Lisboa, mais precisamente em Alverca. O casal real visitou as instalações da OGMA - Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal. A OGMA é especializada na produção de peças, manutenção e reparação de aeronaves. Willem-Alexander, que durante anos manteve em sigilo o seu part-time como piloto de uma companhia aérea holandesa circulou com curiosidade pelas instalações e falou com vários representantes das missões económicas entre os dois países sobre possibilidades de cooperação lusa-holandesa no campo na indústria aeronáutica e desenvolvimento de aeroportos.
The third and last day of visit began north of Lisbon, more precisely in Alverca. The royal couple visited the facilities of OGMA - Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal. OGMA specializes in the production of pieces, maintenance and repair of aircraft. Willem-Alexander, who for years kept his part-time secret as a pilot of a Dutch airline company, toured with curiosity around the facilities and spoke with several representatives of the economic missions between the two countries on possibilities of Portuguese-Dutch cooperation in the field of industry aeronautics and airport development.
O Rei e a Rainha da Holanda rumaram depois para Sintra, uma pequena vila pitoresca localizada no centro das colinas da Serra de Sintra. Aqui o casal real visitou a Escola Nacional de Bombeiros que forma e treina profissionais - eu diria verdadeiros Heróis Nacionais - com o objecivo de formar, simultaneamente bombeiros e cidadãos capazes de responder eficazmente, nas vertentes técnica e humanista, aos riscos emergentes da sociedade actual.
The Dutch King and Queen traveled later to Sintra, a small magical village located in the center of the hills of the Serra de Sintra. Here the royal couple visited the National School of Firefighters, which trains and trains professionals - I would say true National Heroes - with the aim of forming, simultaneously, firefighters and citizens capable of responding effectively, in the technical and humanistic aspects, to the emerging risks of today's society.
Nas instalações da escola, o Rei e Rainha quiseram conhecer o trabalho desenvolvido no Centro de Simulação e Realidade Virtual, nomeadamente através da utilização de um software de simulação que é desenvolvido em Delft, na Holanda. A Holanda é geralmente um dos países que ajuda Portugal, quando os meios ao nosso dispor no combate a incêndios florais, não são suficientes - o que acontece com bastante regularidade!
In the school's premises, the King and Queen wanted to know the work developed at the Center for Simulation and Virtual Reality, namely through the use of simulation software that is developed in Delft, the Netherlands. The Netherlands is generally one of the countries that helps Portugal, when the means available to us in the fight against floral fires are not enough - which happens quite regularly!
Uma vez em Sintra, os ilustres visitantes não poderiam conhecer um pouco mais esta localidade portuguesa que atrai todos os anos milhares de turistas de todo o mundo. Com um clima ligeiramente mais fresco, Sintra atraiu a nobreza e elite de Portugal, que aqui construíram palácios requintados, residências extravagantes e jardins decorativos.
A variedade de edifícios históricos fascinantes e as belíssimas paisagens estabeleceram Sintra como um dos melhores destinos turísticos, assim como a viagem complementar mais popular a partir de Lisboa.
Once in Sintra, the illustrious visitors got to know a little more about this Portuguese town that attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. With a slightly cooler climate, Sintra attracted the nobility and elite of Portugal, who built here exquisite palaces, extravagant residences and decorative gardens.
The variety of fascinating historical buildings and the beautiful landscapes have established Sintra as one of the best tourist destinations, as well as the most popular complementary trip from Lisbon.
O casal visitou o Palácio da Vila no centro histórico de Sintra. O palácio do século XIV com suas características chaminés foi habitado por monarcas portugueses durante séculos, particularmente como residência de férias.
Nos últimos anos do regime monárquico foi a residência de Verão da rainha-mãe D. Maria Pia, a última habitante régia do Paço da Vila de Sintra. Aqui tiveram lugar várias recepções oferecidas pela rainha-mãe aos estadistas que visitavam o seu filho, como o Imperador William II da Alemanha ou o Presidente de França, Émile Loubet, entre outros.
The couple visited the Villa Palace in the historic center of Sintra. The 14th century palace with its characteristic chimneys was inhabited by Portuguese monarchs for centuries, as a summer residency.
In the last years of the monarchical regime it was the summer residence of the Queen-Mother D. Maria Pia, the last regal inhabitant of the Villa Palace. Here several receptions were held by the Queen Mother to the statesmen who visited her son, such as the Emperor William II of Germany or the President of France, Émile Loubet, among others.
O palácio encontra-se classificado como Monumento Nacional desde 1910. Willem-Alexander e Máxima foram saudados por várias pessoas e mostraram-se encantados com a história deste monumento emblemático.
A Rainha holandesa não resistiu a tirar algumas fotografias pessoais com o seu telemóvel.
The palace has been classified as a National Monument since 1910. Willem-Alexander and Máxima were greeted by several people and were delighted with the history of this emblematic monument.
The Dutch Queen does not resist taking pictures with her cell phone.
O último acto desta visita de estado terminou em Cascais com uma recepção para a comunidade holandesa em Portugal. O Rei e Rainha encontraram-se com vários holandeses que vivem ou trabalham actualmente em Portugal.
The last act of this state visit ended in Cascais with a reception for the Dutch community in Portugal. The King and Queen met several Dutch people who currently live or work in Portugal.
Para o última dia da visita, Máxima continuou fiel a si mesma e ao seu mote: "Cheguei, Vi e Venci". Embora a última parte seja sempre muito questionável, não existem dúvidas que a Rainha holandesa se sente confortável na sua própria pele, por mais extravagante que seja a indumentária escolhida. Não fui particularmente fã das suas escolhas em Portugal, mas honestamente, o que importa o que ela usou? Máxima esteve no meu país, eu tive a oportunidade de vê-la ao vivo, e o seu sorriso e presença em cada evento em que marcou presença, encheram o meu coração. Obrigada!
For the last day of the visit, Máxima remained true to herself and her motto: "I have come, I have seen and I have conquered." Although the last part is always very questionable, there is no doubt that the Dutch Queen feels comfortable in her own skin, no matter how extravagant the chosen outfit is. I was not particularly fond of her choices in Portugal, but honestly, what does it matter what she wore? Máxima was in my country, I had the opportunity to see her live, and her smile and presence at every event in which she was present, filled my heart. Thank you!

É também como coração apertado que vos escrevo hoje, quando Portugal enfrenta mais uma vez a tragédia dos fogos florestais que estão a ameaçar agora várias localidades e que provocaram, desde ontem, 31 vítimas mortais. Eu não percebo nada de política, mas importo-me genuinamente com a Humanidade. E sinto-me envergonhada por saber que um país, o meu país, que considero o melhor do mundo, não toma medidas mais severas no que toca a prevenção dos fogos (gestão e ordenamento da floresta) e à punição da mão criminosa que está na origem da grande maioria destas desgraças. Não vale a pena apontar dedos a medidas políticas anteriores. Governo e Oposição: sentem-se todos juntos à mesa, reúnam-se com profissionais competentes e que aportem soluções, engulam o vosso ego e tomem de uma vez por todas decisões que assegurem que situações como as vividas em 2017 NÃO SE VOLTEM A REPETIR. Há pessoas a morrer, há pessoas a ficarem sem casa, sem património, os grandes pulmões do nosso país estão a morrer num ano em que vários locais já estão em situação de Seca extrema. Preocupem-se com as pessoas. Mostrem compaixão, mas compaixão associada à acção. E por favor, revejam o estatuto dos Bombeiros, porque já é hora destes profissionais serem, pelo menos, tão reconhecidos como os jogadores de futebol profissionais deste país.
It is also with an heavy heart that I am writing to you today, when Portugal once again faces the tragedy of the forest fires that are now threatening several localities and which have caused 31 dead since yesterday. I do not understand politics at all, but I genuinely care about humanity. And I am ashamed to know that a country, my country, which I consider to be the best in the world, does not take any stricter measures on fire prevention (forest management) and the punishment of the criminal hand that is at the origin of the great majority of these misfortunes. It is not worth pointing fingers to previous policy measures. Government and Opposition: sit together at the table, meet with competent professionals and provide solutions, swallow your ego and take decisions once and for all to ensure that situations such as those experienced in 2017 DO NOT REPEAT EVER AGAIN. There are people dying, there are people left without a home, without patrimony, our country's greatest lungs are dying in a year in which several places are already in extreme Drought situation. Please, worry about people. Show compassion, but compassion associated with action. And please review the Firemen's statute, because it is time for these professionals to be, at least, as recognized as the professional football players in this country.
